Kanon prelude promo preview thingy and why Akiko is still teh win.

August 28, 2006

First off, i never bothered doing anything with this cuz i was lazy and just started recently anyway. Anyway….

I loved the game. I loved the original series. And im already falling for the remake.

Not only is it a remake, but its actually delving into more of the game then just the basic parts of it like the first one did, yay. Some people asy “i hope there wont be fillers though” but really, all of any show is just fillers. Especially shows like this, action i can understand that there can be a line drawn between ‘fillers’ and ’story’ but nothing else really. I mean, in reality, if they just took the very first episode, and the last episode of a show, and put them into one single 15 minute episode, THIS would be a ‘no fillers’ series. But everything at its core is filler. Because every filler is really story or atleast more information/character development. Take say, the original Kanon. Every episode and scene and moment of the show that had any characters other then Yuuichi and/or Ayu, is filler. And then about 90% of the scenes of those two are also filler. So you end up with:

Ayu and Yuuichi’s first meeting in the present.

Ayu and Yuuichi’s meeting originally (so in the past) and what happened.

Ayu and Yuuichi’s REAL first meeting in the present which is the ending.

Doenst that sound horribly shitty? Yes, because it would be. Fillers are a must because fillers arent fillers. OH NOES I MAKE NO SENSE, too damn bad. Anyway, looks like most of the bullshit is gonna be with dirty whore cousin girl, whom is my least favorite character in the series…blargh.
Anyway, im excited for it, and its funny to see Yuuichi as Mayama/Kyon now instead of just Yuuichi, ill get used to it eventually though.

And yay, Akiko is all teh more win thanks to KyoAni, plus they will have more of her due to it following the game more correctly. And so i wouldnt be suprised to even possibly see an episode for Akiko full of her being win, and even if one isnt made, she should be in a lot more episodes for a lot more time cuz she’s in the game waaaay more then the was in the original series. As long as they dont ruin Akiko’s voice, ill love this show. Yay for Akiko’s Secret Jam! Or for more fun “Love Love Akiko Jam!!!!”

anyway, yay. Heres some screens that youve probably seen but i took them myself anyway. I left the subtitles in the Ayu one for great justice.

H&C S.II 07 – The Morita story

August 28, 2006

Yes, im behind, but it happens so oh well. Anyway, because im already an episode behind blogging wise for this, ill make this quick.

Anyway, this episode was basically all insight into Kaoru and Shinobu’s past, namely from Kaoru’s POV. Also, they introduce (and kill off) a close family friend of the Moritas, Negishi, whom also worked at their fathers side. The concept that Kaoru alluded to in the previous episode of having something only you can do is prevailent throughout the episode, and it explains why he feels that way. Also it shows more of how their dad seemed to care for Shinobu more and was closer with him, and that Kaoru could never be that way. It gets kind of eva-ish and ubar introverted some more (like teh previous episode or two) and Negishi was pretty head fucked basically, not to mention the girl he loved (an ubar Yamada look alike) got jacked by Morita and he was dying of a terminal illness. Anyway, he ends up fucking Morita over and selling all teh copyrights and what-not as well as the business to some big firm in the city (Floyd Electric) after being tricked.

Kaoru and Shinobu (still in the past) end up seeing one of their dads things for sale at a store, and Kaoru flips out and ends up getting the store workers to chase them. And of course, this turns into symbolism and not an actual zomegs dont get caught kind of thing. And then more Eva as well, with the scenes and then text and then more of it. But yeah, it gets into how he feels inferior and not good enough for his father, and that he has nothing only he can do.

And then a huge thing of more symbolism, which if fine. Anyway, Kaoru, while still running, is finally attacked by a big black mass, which is most likely the “dark emotions” his father told him to avoid. Shinobu turns around and tries to protect his brother from the mass. But in teh end, it envelops both of them. And then Morita wakes up to Kaoru in the present, typing away on his computer still.

Next episode, Hagu turns emo and starts slitting her wrists?! zomegs! Actually i have no idea what happens, but i doubt thats it, anyway i have the next episode so i wont bother going into it anymore.

Kaoru and Shinobu are two of my favorite characters in the show, i mean everyone basically is my favorite, but they have a lot more to them then the other characters. Everyone is really deep and realistic, but they have more then just ‘typical lost-soul type of college kid’ and ‘guy stuck in a love triangle’ and such. They have that, but then a little extra. Plus they are both amusing, so that helps. Anyway, glad ot finally see a bit of their past and understand their characters better.

Random semi-important information about nothing important!

August 17, 2006

1. Im submitting the blog to AnimeNano on the 17th (i leave too early on the 18th) so i reaaalllly hope Hung will cut me some slack on it not being EXACTLY a month that its been around. So if your checking this, please let a few days missing still count as a month, lol.
2. Im moving to college very early this coming friday morning (the 18th i believe).

a. Because of this, i cant post that day.

b. Because of moving to college in general though, i will also be busy AFTER friday as well. So i wont have time to watch anything right now really or to make entries about other stuff. And then after i get moved in, i start my first classes as a college freshman soon after, and i need to focus on that more then this. But no worries, i only have morning (i think my latest class is like 12:30-2:00 or something if even that late.) classes and only for monday-thursday. Fridays i have ONE class in the middle of the day, and the weekend i get off.

So ill have plenty of time to keep this updating like ive been, and this is what will be happening. So yeah, no worries. The blog WILL be unactive for maybe a week, with perhaps an update from me about non-anime-related things, but for the most part you wont see anything for a short while. BUT, it’ll be back to the current speed in no time, so dont worry!

3. As i said, even though this might turn into looking like an ‘orphaned blog’ its not, its simply that i need a week or two to get accustomed to my new life, and then i need this week as well to get ready to go. So it WILL BE ACTIVE.

4. Anyway, i should still be semi-active on the www.2dcomplex.com forums during this time because its much easier and less time consuming to make a post now and then on there. Plus i dont wanna fill this up with crap that doenst relate to anything. So if you need to contact me, either Email me, or post on the forum/pm me on the forums.

And once again, I may not be active for a few weeks, but this place is NOT dead and WILL BE COMING BACK. Its just a busy time right now! Thanks anyone who actually visits as well, im really not sure how ive already got over 700 hits O:

And really, i might sneak in some time to type something up. So meh.

BECK – Mongolian Chop Squad

August 15, 2006

First off, i just finished this show, i know im late but meh. Anyway, in the last episode when Koyuki is showing Maho pictures of their tour in America they show where i live twice, it was awesome. First, they flew into LAX, thats in LA obviously. And then, they had a concert in Long Beach, which is where i live, and Koyuki was like LONG BEACH BANZAI! lmao. Ill have this scene as a big screenshot just for my own amusement. Anyway, theres also the group “The Heroes” near the end (in Japan though) and they are actually The Pillows, lmao. I thought that was pretty cool too, Taira joined a new band but it turned out to be an anime version of the pillows starting out.

ANYWAY, this will probably be long but it might be really short too, either way i really liked this show. All the characters are really cool, Maho kind of pisses me off from time to time especially in the latter half of the show when she always ditches Koyuki for that one famous kid, and then she comes right back that night and stays over at his place. Anyway, I think Chiba and Taira were my favorite characters. Chiba was just amusing, and Taira was cool looking and the most rock bandish looking out of all of them. Koyuki was good but he was such a stereotypical main character. He just magically had great talent, could sing great, and always was the one holding the group together. Basically, they made him too strong for such a weak character, and its obvious especially in the end when he gets BECK back together. I mean, things like this happen, but really, i doubt he would be the first one to try getting them back together. Anyway, i really liked the girl who worked at the doughnut shop, she was adorable. And im guessing she hooked up with Saku eventually, and he’s cool so thats alright lol.

The art was really nice for the most part as well, i mean theres a few parts and such where everything looks pretty bad or not as good as it should be. But for the most part it was pretty consistant. And i know that BECK cant compare in animation quality for their concerts with episode 12 of Haruhi, but TMoHS has a MUCH higher quality animation overall. For BECK’s quality, the concerts were done really well i thought, and a lot of the guitar playing parts where they’d zoom in on the finger movements and stuff seemed better then in TMoHS. So really, i hear a lot of people comparing them (maybe i just imagined, but meh) but i dont think its possible. The shows art style and quality is too different to really say one is better then the other. But yeah, the art was great throughout the show i thought.

The characters all seemed really well designed to me. I mean they werent anything amazing but they seemed more real then you get from a lot of shows. The engrish that Ryuusuke and Maho throw around all day is pretty amusing, they think they are great at it but damn. Plus everyone else who speaks english is pretty bad, other then the three black dudes who become an important part of the story, they are pretty good at english. Maybe they actually got an american or something, cuz i dont see an asian being able to pull of a ‘im a big pimpin black man with a gun’ kind of voice like Goldy (his teeth are gold, which is funny cuz back when the show came out, noone had Grills yet, he was like a trend setter without even knowing it.). Anyway, even BECK and Saitou’s bird are really well done and interesting in their own way.

The music, well the show is about a band afterall, i thought the music was great. Pretty much all the music at that, not just one or two songs and not just BECK’s music. Hell, i even thought that one song from Belle Ame was good and they are the ‘enemy’ lol. Anyway yeah, i loved the music overall, and I wish BECK wasnt a fake band lol. Although all the music done by others for the show and other bands in the show, was all really great too.

All-in-all, i really liked this series. I think its licensed now, so ill definately be buying it. Im not sure how well they will integrate the dub with the singing, but oh well. Plus, half the show is spoken in english and its a big deal cuz most of the main characters DONT UNDERSTAND. I mean, they can pull something like in Ichigo Mashimaro where they have <SPEAKING ENGLISH> whenever they are speaking english (so that if you have the dub track on youll realize they arnt supposed to be speaking japanese at the time) but that would be up SO OFTEN. So really, i think the dub, as i think with most dubs, will come out shitty. Not only cuz of those things, but just cuz most dubs turn out horrible. Oh well, yay for japanese audio/subtitles!

But yeah, this is one of the most recent shows ive actually gotten excited about watching. I mean, with other shows im like yay new episode d/l watch and all that. But I guess i just really got into this show more then usual. Like say Honey & Clover II, H&C is definately one of my favorite shows, so watching new episodes is really like YES NEW EPISODE HURRY UP AND DOWNLOAD!!!! but BECK was different somehow. Im not really sure, but whatever.
Have some shitty screens. The version i had was about the size of a youtube video, so the screens will be oddly shaped, lol.

Binbou Shimai Monogatari 5 – My momma say’ dat trucks are da devil!

August 14, 2006

I dunno. Maybe the show is too cheesy, and stupid, and pointless. But i cant get over how cute Kyo and Asu are, and so im compelled to watch the series through. Besides, i really dont think the show is bad at all, so whatever.

Anyway, after the usual spew of crap about their shitty parents and the yay-yay opening that i enjoy so much (the music part, not the talking), Kyo and Asu go to ask the owner for an extension of their pay period cuz they are poor as usual. Anway, when they come up to ask, the wind blows by and he see’s “Eriko” and “Mami” instead of Kyo and Asu – which im gonna assume they are explained later on in the episode. After he is nice to them about it he goes away, and they wonder who the hell Eriko and Mami are. On her way back home Kyo decides to end her life and jump infront of a giant truck, albeit on accident, anyway he just honks and she’s liek oh oops. And then you see it parked infront of the apartment. Gee, i wonder what the giant truck with a bunch of steel bars and such on it parked infront of the apartment in an episode with a title with ‘moving’ in it means. Oh i know, either renovations or a new building….But apparently this is too hard for the girls to grasp on their own, and dont figure it out till the whorey neighbor tells them.

Anyway, to further prove my point from an earlier episode about “Kyo stealing Asu’s savings money for a Yukata and she’s evil a terrible sister!” and how its actually Kyo’s money to begin with – Kyo hands her entire check over to Asu right when she gets home. Proving im right, Asu doesnt do jack shit or even have an allowance, she just uses her sisters money, and so her ’savings’ was actually Kyo’s savings. So ha!

Ok so, they plan on going out somewhere the next day cuz Kyo is off from work. They end up hanging out inside their room until the afternoon, looking at some flower on a tree. They decide to go to the baths early, but are cut off by the owner, who tells them to GTFO of the apartment. But they still go to the baths, and all the people notice something is wrong. They all ask like they care and omg omg, but then once she tells them that they are getting kicked out of their apartment, NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THE PEOPLE TRIES TO HELP AT ALL. They just say “OOO AHHH!!! OMG THATS HORRIBLE!” Just like real life, people are useless. Later on they start packing, and the neighbor woman comes over and tells them that the place is getting torn down and replaced by a luxury mansion complex. More cute little commercial things. Back in the show again, Kyo and Asu look at some ads for houses and imagine with their flower filled heads how it would be. They finally take all their stuff and leave the apartment with it, and with nowhere to go, i guess they didnt want to find a place first for some odd reason. Anyway, while walking they get stopped by a store owner they know who says they can stay at her shop on the second floor, but then like a bunch of others finally come over and say “no, they can stay at my place!” hell, even some dirty perverted looking guys come over and say it! Apparently the owner asked them to give the girls a place to stay becuase he thinks of them as granddaughters or so the people say.

Finally they explain Eriko and Mami, apparently they were his wife and daughter. Apparently 40 years ago (yes, 40) some truck ran over his family, lmao. Anyway, the girls run back to stop him from destroying the apartment, but they find out it was the apartment NEXT to theirs that isnt even his getting torn down. Apparently he told them to move out so they would be away from the trucks, cuz he doenst like trucks! And to end with max cuteness levels, they throw in a new hairstyle for Asu! END. Anyway, blargh. The usual i expect of this show, happy happy love love ending with drama inbetween! But whatever, i enjoy it.
