H&C II 06 -or- People in Japan sure do talk to themselves a lot.

The episode starts off with the father to the Morita Brothers (Kaoru and Shinobu) getting overly excited about having curry and leaving his work immediately to get home for it. When he gets there, he’s greeted by little Shinobu jumping into his arms and Kaoru at the door with their cat. Anyway, he brought home the worlds smallest robot, its like a little beetle and it heads towards light. This is the beginning of the episodes many introverted thoughts and memories we get to see. After that, it cuts to Takemoto trying to make another useless gigantic thing with lots of things, which i dont get but i guess its ‘art’, so thats what he does. And he starts losing that big confidence he came back from his bike trip with, because he figures - he just rode a bike, its not like its anything amazing, so why was it such a big deal that he did it. Then it quickly moves to probably the most depressing Hagu scene in the entirety of Honey & Clover up to this point. She explains how she has endless ideas and wants to make them all a reality, but the life span of a human being isnt long enough. So she wont ever be able to create everything, not without someone there to help her. She thinks about trying to have that person be Shuu, but she soon gives that idea up because she remembers that she isnt the only thing in the world and he already has his own life.

Rika sends an SOS to Mayama from Spain, apparently the guy she’s working for is obsesssed with her and stuff. She’s extra cute in the little scenes it has her in, especially when she’s trying to hold the door closed and the guy just keeps trying to push it open. She’s so tiny. Anyway, they make fun of Mayama and seriously wonder if he’s any better then that guy, and conclude that he’s probably worse, lol. Anyway, Yamada shows up and tells him about how he can grow some daikon (raddish) in Spain to use as a spice and whatever, and then she leaves after he says he will plant the daikon seeds like she told him. While she’s walking (home, im guessing) Leader and Nomiya show up again like in the last episode, hell it might even be at the same spot. Anyway, she starts crying and whatnot.

Back to Morita checking on Hagu and an annoying thing going across the screen that had nothing to do with the show so i coudlnt get caps of this scene (which i really wanted). Morita starts to leave and Shuu stops him and asks him to please talk to Hagu. Shuu explains that if Morita doesnt do something soon then their paths will split, but Morita still declines. He just says “it cant be helped” which suprised Shuu, because its completely out of character for Morita. Then it cuts to Kaoru standing infront of what the two of them (Kaoru and Shinobu) have been saving up for, the future “Morita Technology Research Office”. Then we get to see another flashback of when they were little kids. Apparently Shinobu got a lot more attention from their father then Kauro ever did, and then it cuts back to the present again.

The next day, back at Shuu’s place at school Hagu (being all extra kewt looking), Yamada, Shuu, and Takemoto all are hanging out and talking about how, now that Takemoto has a drivers licensed, he should drive them all to the beach in Shuu’s car. Yamada starts thinking about how they wont all fit in the car, but then remembers Morita left for Spain, and starts getting sad. So Shuu chimes in saying they should just wait a month for Mayama to return, then they can all go together. While talking about how it will be when they go, we get to see how it would be, and its probably what they are seeing in their own thoughts as well. Anyway, as Takemoto puts it, “In the end, we never went to the ocean. For some reason, even though we didnt have a single picture, the image of everone together burned into the back of our eyelids…became the one image that will stay with us forever.”

Next episode - Forward, in the direction of light!

Anyway, i love when they draw Hagu less retarded, its hard to imagine her in full form normalness. But when they draw her face all extra mature like they have been lately, they never show her full body so it still doesnt fit right. But you can kind of imagine what she’d look like normal, and i kind of wish they’d make her less of a retard just once, albeit it would make everything about her character untrue…so maybe just an extra with a non-short hagu thats not all kiddyish. Blargh. Anyway, ghewd episode, Kaoru was one of my favorite from just his few scenes in the first season so im glad he’s a lot more important now.
