Today in Class 5-2 (Kyou No Go Ni.) ep.1

July 24, 2006

Well when it came out i didnt notice and my computer wasnt working right so i wouldnt have been able to get it anyway.

Either way, i loved the manga (the little that exists) and always wanted an animated version, so im glad it exists now! Anyway, just to start off, Aihara and Hirakawa > everyone else in it. Been like that since the manga, and it wont be changing now. So yeah, the episode was ghewd. A summary would be forever long though due to the episode being episodes within it. So meh. Basically though, its a slice-of-life comedy with a bunch of characters that all have their own strange things about them. All of it takes place at school (hence the name) other then the few frames of the manga that involved walking home or being at a park, and its pretty much just day-to-day happenings. Each short episode is broken into chapters like the manga, and they are called “periods” like how it is at school. Anyway, the main character is….i dont remember his name, but its the kid with the spiky black hair, and he’s usually either causing or getting into trouble around school. Blargh.

Anyway, the show is almost 100% loyal to the manga, from the actual stories to even the smallest things in the script. Although i really liked the art in the manga a LOT better, this looks great too. Episode 1 has most of the chapters i liked the most because its going in the exact order ( even each ‘period’ is the same ) as the manga and i liked the first chapters the most. Yay for Aihara’s biting and ubar hawt collarbones!

And sense i did episode 1, ill be doing 2 after i do the entry for H&CII 4 which will hopefully be done either by tonight or sometime tomorrow in the earlier part of the day (noonish?).

Heat.

July 23, 2006

Not even little Tama-chan, the smartest grade schooler around, knows the answer to this heat! Its almost 1:40 AM right now, and the temperature is at around 90 degrees. Yeah. Also theres humidity like crazy because of where i live, blargh. This has nothing to do with anime, but when you cant sleep because your melting you tend to find anything to do. And this was what i ended up having left. Dont worry, my next entry will be about anime but im not sure what ill watch first, it really all depends on which finished downloading the quickest.

This is one of those days that i’d love to be able to say, “I plan on watching a bunch of anime in my nice cool house with air-conditioning and just relax.” But no such luck, the closest thing to an air conditioner i have is an open window and a really noisy fan that doesnt help very much at all. So i sit in my 97 degree room (if the fan even helps that much) feeling like crap reading Shounan Jun’ai Gumi for the third or fourth time thanks to Tokyopop licensing it (and i just bought it today finally, so its the first time im reading it in a book and not on my computer). And if anyone has seen the volume 1 they released…im not sure why, but its HUGE. Anyway, i like GTO and Bad Company more then SJG but they are really all awesome.

So yeah, its horribly hot and horribly humid. Blargh.

Besides, theres no new episodes of anything out, so its not like i could talk about anime anyway. Maybe ill just review whatever random episode of Girls High im on just for something to do.

NHK ni Youkoso 2

July 22, 2006

This episode picks up right where 1 left off with Misaki and Satou in the park, and just overlaps a little with when she first arrived. She has this big contract written up for him to sign to join her project to help get Satou out of his current state of being a Hikikomori. He ends up telling her he isnt one, and leaving, and then coming back the next night to meet her again and ended up telling her he is a software designer of some kind. Back home he finally snaps from the neighbors music and (most likely thanks to Misaki again) he storms over and goes in, only to find out its one of his ‘friends’ from highschool (the one that was shown in the flashback being bullied).

After spending some time in the guys room and looking at all his ero-games, hentai posters, and dirty figurines (looks a lot like my room, lawls) he finds out that the kid is going to basically a trade school to make video games. So he asks him to borrow the book from the school, takes it that night to the park, and tells Misaki she can see one of his games in a month. And without realizing it, he was followed by Yamazaki all the way there (the neighbor) who ends up yelling at him for lying to Misaki. Anyway, Satou ends up asking him to make a game for him and Yamazaki forces him to write the story and script. What kind of game will they make? An ero-game of course! And so ends the episode.

From all the things ive read about the neighbor in the manga he’s supposed to be pretty terrible, but he seems just like a normal perverted otaku to me atleast right now. Then again, the show still doesnt seem all that serious and it WILL be at some point. So i woudlnt be surprised at his character drastically changing along with everything else. Anyway, i think the best part of the episode was when he was thinking about what would happen to Misaki if he didnt meet up with her soon. He looks so creepy hiding in his little room when the news reporters come, lol.

Next Episode – Bishoujo ni Youkoso! From the looks of it, it’ll be another funny episode, especially if it has lots of B-game references cuz ill probably understand a lot of them!

NHK ni Youkoso 1

July 22, 2006

Please pardon the fansubs, but meh.

After reading so much about how the manga is fun/comedy at first and then turns into a completely serious story later on made me just decide to watch it mainly like a serious show. Either way the first episode had its humor, but it obviously had plenty of weird as well…but i guess i woudlnt know if jelly women really appeared when your high…my guess is no? Anyway, its interesting already and the first episode already has me wanting more.

Anyway, love the music, the art, the characters, and the story (albeit the little one that there is so far) up to this point. It was also interesting to see the title of the episode at the very END of the episode. Speaking of the end, the song sums up pretty well the main issue the show will eventually focus on…although the animation was a bit annoying to watch, so ill probably just skip it from now on, but meh.

Yay for Nobue Ito, or rather Misaki Nakahara, being a reason all in herself to watch the show. The episode basically showed a little insight into the character Satou and how he is a Hikikomori and a NEET. At the beginning (and pretty much throughout), he suspects a big conspiracy to be revolving around him and ends up believing its the work of the NHK (the Japanese Television Network or something close to that i dont remember) and goes about to change the H to Hikikomori. Anyway, Misaki and some scary old religious lady come to his house to give out crap like mormons. Satou ends up basically wanting Misaki to just think he had the day off, and so he finally steps out of his ’safe zone’ in the apartment to get a job at a local manga-cafe. It just so happens Misaki happens to work there – after useless babble and running away he does a typical anime move, drops his resume i believe, and doesnt notice. Misaki brings it back with a note on the back, and tells him that he’s the perfect person for her big plan.

Short…but do you really wanna read another entry the size of the previous one? I didnt think so. O: And yes, i realize i went into completely different topics from sentence to sentence, gimme a break!

Summer Season and the first real entry!

July 21, 2006

Or rather, what im bothering to watch. And yeah, it looks really long, but only because the way this is setup it makes the length of lines really tiny.

First off, the old and already complete -
Highschool Girls/Girls High – I never got around to watching it when it was coming out, so meh. Anyway, I went into it thinking it would be another cute and fun, highschool setting, slice of life to the same tune of Azumanga Daioh or something but with a little ecchi. Apparently 90% of the entire series is panty shots and dirty accidental positions that you usually see in romance comedy’s. Anyway, the characters are all really cute but I dont need to stare at them running around with random reasons for their underwear to be showing (or rather, actually wearing nothing as seen in episode 2) for 24 minutes, but maybe thats just me. It still has some funny and cute things about it, but few and far between….between crappily overdone “hey look theres panties!” scenes. Adult oriented jokes funny and all, but an entire series of nothing but crap isnt. But meh, ill finish it just because I have it all and the character design is teh yay, so meh.

Continuing stuff from last season -
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni – This has been one of my favorite since i first started watching it on the premise of “killer lolis!” that was spread about forums and anime blogs alike. Anyway, the characters are all really well designed, the music is great, and the actual plot(s) seems well thought out in advance. It probably helps its based off a game, so its not like they didnt have prior knowledge of what was going to happen, but meh. Anyway, everyone complains about how nothing makes sense in it and that its not realistic. I really doubt the uncle MAGICALLY revived himself people, theres a reason for the coming up ‘answer’ chapters, to explain what happened in the previous ones. So before we start jumping to ‘omg whm {needed} at (G-5) {Revive} {Please}’ about what happened to the uncle, theres probably going to be a valid explanation of what happened so just stfu and watch the rest of the series. Anyway, a new chapter starts next episode, and its the first episode of the first answer chapter, so yay.

Eyeshield 21 – Yeah, i wont bother going into it. Why? Because the fansubbers decided to just completely stop on this one…albeit its still technically in ‘progress’. Yeah, as much progress as ADV is getting with all the manga they decided to license and make one volume of…and then cancel. Happy Lesson much? Whatever.

Summer Season Stuffs -
Honey & Clover II – Hachikuro, as its usually referred to, was and still is one of my favorite series overall. Everything is done so well in it, the characters, music, art, story, everything is amazingly well done. A show about nothing and with so much whining and yet its still one of the best series ive seen in a long time. Anyway, H&C II follows up on it and keeps the same high quality…everything. Suga Shikao, Yuki, and Spitz are all back again (im not sure if Suneohair did the ending though, but thats because im too lazy to check) for the music, so thats a really good thing. Anyway, its focusing a lot more on Mayama-Rika-Yamada-Nomiya then the first series that was more aimed towards Takemoto-Hagu-Morita. Anyway, blargh.

NHK ni Youkoso – I havnt gotten around to watching this yet, but i have episode one ready to watch, just yeah. Ill get around to it soon probably, looks interesting.

Binbou Shimai Monogatari – This is my favorite show this season second only to H&C II. But then again, theres not much worth watching right now other then Hachikuro to begin with. Anyway, a lot of people disagree, but i think this is a really great show. First off, its got Maaya Sakamoto and whoever did Chiyo-chan’s voice both in it as the main character sisters. The opening is really nice, love the song but the single doenst come out until the 20th of August i think, and the rest of the music is good too. The art has its own feel to it, its simple but not to the point of being annoying, and it fits the show well and looks good in general. Anyway, its your typical slice-of-life with a tiny bit of story (the mom died and the dad ditched them…thats all you get for story, so not that much lol.) and its just about the daily life of these two sisters Kyo (15 y.o.) and Asu (uh….i dont remember her age…something loli). Blah blah, whatever, i really like this show, too bad its only 10 episodes long.

END. Because, im too lazy to type more right now. Anyway, ill probably start having actual episode reviews starting with
-H&CII ep.4
-Higurashi no Naku Koro ni ep….whatever episode number is the first of the next arc
-Binbou Shimai Monogatari ep.4
-NHK ni Youkoso ep.1
- and i might throw in a review of Highschool Girls overall.
